In severe diseases, especially autoimmune diseases, medical treatment alone is not enough. In addition to medications, the patient is prescribed physiotherapy procedures and it is recommended that a special diet be followed. You also need a diet for gout and high uric acid.

What substances increase uric acid

Acute joint pain and reddening of the skin indicate a violation of uric acid metabolism and complications caused by excess uric acid. As a general rule, the percentage of urea in the blood increases due to metabolic disorders. Acid-bound salts turn into stones and lead to gout and urolithiasis.

Diseases occur primarily in people who are genetically predisposed to them, but unhealthy lifestyles also contribute to elevated uric acid levels. Excessive alcohol consumption, flour products, sweets, fatty and spicy foods, and improper, restricted nutrition can cause the development of the disease.

The diet for gout is not temporary but permanent and cannot be violated. A distinction can be made between the nutritional principles of gout diseases:

  1. Total exclusion of purine-containing products: cocoa beans, tea, freshwater fish, sprat, herring, sardines, asparagus, spinach, legumes, fatty beef and pork, liver.
  2. Reduction of urate-increasing protein intake.
  3. Drink plenty of water to remove uric acid and salts.
  4. Elimination or significant reduction of salt intake. If consumed, in small amounts during cooking.
  5. A properly balanced diet and diet in which the body can get all the necessary substances without overloading.

What foods can be consumed

Since gout and a high uric acid diet are constant, this should become a habit, a way of life. It is better to eat as planned, ie all products and food should be provided in advance. Otherwise, it is possible to get rid of and consume a harmful product. Of course, you need to see a doctor and make a list of approved foods. The list of foods that can be consumed and gout cooked includes the following products:

  • certain types of meat and fish (chicken, turkey, rabbit meat). The meat is just cooked and lean;
  • Seafood;
  • eggs (not more than once a day);
  • vegetable oils (butter can be consumed, but rarely and limitedly);
  • cereals (except rice) and pasta;
  • copious consumption of vegetables, fruits and herbs is recommended, with a few exceptions - parsley, celery, radish;
  • fruits and vegetables against gout
  • dairy products must be fat-free - yoghurt, kefir, fermented fried milk, unsalted cheese;
  • spices are best excluded, but sometimes you can use small amounts of bay leaves, cinnamon, vanilla, vinegar;
  • sweet only from natural products - honey, jam, marmalade;
  • alcohol must be completely excluded, but in very rare cases a maximum of 100 g of vodka is allowed;
  • from beverages - ordinary and mineral water, authorized juices, rosehip soup, chicory, fruit drink.

What not to eat

In addition to edible foods, it is necessary to decide on those that not only cannot be eaten raw, but also cooked:

  • sausages and fatty meats;
  • tomatoes, asparagus, cauliflower, spinach;
  • canned vegetables and canned fish and meat;
  • mushrooms in any form;
  • fatty dairy products;
  • dairy products for the treatment of gout
  • animal fats;
  • plum;
  • smoked products (fish, meat);
  • spices;
  • sweets, especially with lots of cream;
  • spicy and salty cheeses.

The list of authorized and prohibited products must be drawn up on a case-by-case basis. If the patient has co-morbid conditions, such as diabetes or visceral disorders, this should be taken into account. It should also be borne in mind that different types and stages of gout require temporary restrictions, even for a chosen diet. So in case of aggravation, meat and fish are completely excluded.

If a person suffers from joint swelling, the use of watermelon and herbal decoctions is recommended.

Correct menu

Not only is it important to know what to consume, but also the conditions under which to decide which food is right for you. For breakfast, it is advisable to prefer nutritious and high-calorie but simple meals. Fits well: cereals, cheesecakes, scrambled eggs with vegetables, pancakes. For lunch, it is better to choose first courses with vegetables, cooked meat, steamed meatballs or slices, compotes, vegetable salads, milk soups and cereals.

Dinner should be light, but don’t leave you hungry. It is better to choose dishes made from vegetables and low-fat dairy products: casseroles with vegetables and cottage cheese, jam, kefir, dried fruits, steamed fish with vegetables, etc. Nutrition experts advise fasting once a week. But never without food! Ideal for such days are small amounts of fruits and vegetables as well as sour dairy products.

In any case, the attending physician and the nutritionist should determine which foods can be consumed and which should be excluded. It is not safe to choose a diet - you can get another treatment for one disease.
